In recognition of World Polio Awareness Day (October 24th) SPSEF is offering the Springdale Rotary Club Polio Awareness Essay Scholarship. This scholarship provides a one-time award of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) to a graduate of an accredited public high school in Springdale pursuing post-secondary education at a university, community college, or vocational or technical school in Arkansas.
Qualified applicants must submit their original thoughts in 750 words or less and answer the following essay question: Describe Rotary International’s efforts to eliminate Polio from the World. Consider scientific, logistic, political, and humanitarian aspects of this commitment and current progress toward the goal of eliminating the second human disease in history.
In order to be considered for the scholarship, you must complete this online application, including submission of your essay, by November 30, 2017. The winning essay will be announced prior to the end of the Fall 2017 semester and may be published on the website of the Rotary Club of Springdale, Arkansas, or related sites. All applicants, by submitting their essay for consideration, assign all copyrights and similar rights to their essays to the Rotary Club of Springdale, Arkansas, for use in efforts to increase awareness of Polio and support Rotary’s Polio eradication efforts worldwide. The scholarship will be awarded at the senior assembly in the spring.
