2024 Cornerstone Recipients

The SPSEF Board of Directors are honored to welcome the 2025 Cornerstone Recipients!

Mike McFarland – 2024 Patron

Mike moved to Springdale nearly 20 years ago and has been involved in nearly every aspect of the community ever since. Mike was the very first President of the SPSEF Board of Directors and is instrumental in building and promoting the Foundation’s core mission and beliefs. Mike served a term on the Springdale Advertising and Promotion Commission, and the NWA Regional Airport Board of Directors representing Springdale. He is also a member of Springdale Rotary, and he previously served on the Ozark Guidance Board of Directors for six years. Mike retired from Arvest Bank and is the retired Co-owner of Modern Fence..

Jim Crouch – 2024 Alumni

Jim is a 1970 graduate of SHS.  He is a partner in the Crouch Harwell Fryar Ferner law firm.  Jim has been active in the Arkansas Bar Association and has served on the Boards of the Rotary Club, Arts Center of the Ozarks, Springdale Chamber of Commerce, and many other organizations.  Cathy is also a 1970 graduate of SHS and served as a teacher in the Springdale Schools for 30-plus years.

Carol Turley – 2024 Retiree

Carol has been in education for 32 years and 28 of these years she has served at Springdale High School.  Mrs. Turley came to Springdale High School to teach math.  During that time she taught multiple math subjects and was the cheerleader sponsor.  After a few very successful years in these positions, she transitioned into the International Baccalaureate (IB) Coordinator.  The Springdale IB Diploma Programme was new and only one of five in Arkansas. Ms. Turley retired in 2021 after 32 years of service. She is a Springdale Bulldog through and through and her peers would say was the biggest Bulldog cheerleader Springdale High has had.  When asked about what being a Bulldog means she stated “Being a Bulldog means that I am a member of a Family who is fiercely loyal, intensely tenacious, graciously welcoming, always supportive, and incredibly loving!” Carol currently serves on the SPSEF Board of Directors.

Kevin Johnson – 2024 Legacy

Kevin was a man of the highest integrity, faith, compassion, and passion. He committed his entire life to being a Springdale Public Schools (SPS) servant leader.  Kevin believed working in Springdale Schools as a teacher and coach was not his job it was his life and family. He spent every moment sharing the love of Springdale with anyone who would listen. Kevin was well known for giving his “bear” hugs.  As a “Coach,” he was one of the masterminds who led the SHS football teams to numerous championships. His knowledge of the sport was among the best ever to walk the sidelines. What most did not know about Kevin was his commitment to every player on the team to teach them about life, be a father to them, and help them grow into great young men. Kevin did not judge if the players were good athletes, where they lived, or any other factors. He loved his athletes every day for who they were while motivating them to become the best version of themselves. Kevin led the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and spent countless hours taking his players to church, community events, and performing service to the community.
