The Glenda and Randell Snavely Memorial Scholarship

Ms. Glenda loved and fed thousands of children during her 35-year career as a cafeteria manager for the Springdale Public Schools. When her youngest child entered kindergarten, Glenda went back to school too and started working at Tontitown Elementary. She went on to manage and run the cafeterias when schools like T.G. Smith and Willis Shaw Elementary opened. Her expertise was also shared across the state for 20 years as an instructor at Arkansas’s Child Nutrition Manager Training School in Conway, AR. Even after retiring, she returned annually to prepare appreciation lunches for other school workers and established a Randell Snavely Memorial Scholarship for cafeteria workers’ children. The legacy of her gift of hospitality will live on through her recipes that were prepared with love, the gardens she carefully tended, the lasting impact of her servant’s heart, and the library of memories she leaves with us. Although she will be missed beyond measure, her love and smile will never be forgotten. She blessed multitudes of hearts.
